About

LifeLine Waikato is a professional telephone counselling service. The service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Established in 1991, LifeLine Waikato has been providing this service to the community for 18 years. The service is provided free of charge.
Each year LifeLine Waikato receives over 5,000 telephone calls. The number of calls to LifeLine has consistently increased since the inception of the service. The reasons people call LifeLine vary greatly and often are multi-faceted. Specific issues include emotional problems, relationships, loneliness, employment stress, grief, finances, physical health, mental health problems and suicide. People also request specific information about other services and assistance that may be available.

LifeLine Waikato’s service covers the entire Waikato region, Thames/Coromandel and Bay of Plenty regions, and at times provides back up support to other LifeLine centres to ensure this service is available nationwide, 24 hours a day.
